Penggunaan kata other, others, another, dan the other bisa berfungsi untuk menunjuk benda yang bisa dihitung (countable nouns) atau benda yang tidak bisa dihitung (uncountable nouns).

Sebagai determiner, other tidak menggunakan bentul jamak/plural (tidak ada -s di akhir):

Sebuah determiner dibutuhkan sebelum other ketika digunakan untuk kata benda tunggal:

Ketika kata benda tidak spesifik, gunakan another:

Kata an pada another berarti “satu.” Another selalu dalam bentuk tunggal. Gunakan hanya untuk kata benda tunggal.

Other or the other
Other berfungsi sebagai pronoun (kata ganti) ataupun adjective (kata sifat). Sebagai pronoun, kata other menggantikan kata benda tunggal (singular noun); sedangkan sebagai adjective, other diikuti kata benda jamak (plural noun).
Sebagai catatan, Other mungkin bisa diikuti singular noun, namun mesti ada determiner lain didepannya.
Contoh:
- He closed the door and walked around to the other side.
- In other words, it’s none of my business.
- I may be connected to other people, but still it is all about me.
Others or the others
Others digunakan sebagai pronoun atau kata ganti dari other. Kata others adalah kata ganti dari other.
Hal ini dikarenakan tidak adanya bentuk plural dari adjective, maka dari itu others hanya berperan sebagai pronoun dari plural noun.
Secara singkat, fungsi others untuk merujuk barang yang jumlahnya lebih dari satu dan dalam kalimat tersebut, kamu tak perl menyebut objeknya.

- A shot would bring the others back.

Another
Another digunakan sebagai pronoun ataupun adjective. Sebagai pronoun, another untuk singular noun.
Another sebagai adjective biasanya diikuti singular noun, namun kata ini dapat pula diikuti plural noun untuk menambah tenggat waktu pada kalimat.
Contoh:
- Let’s try another one.
- We must have another entree.
- They may have just moved to Alaska from another state.
- Where another can go, she can go.
- We’ll have another dispute.
- Swiftly behind that thought came another.
